Patients who have vocal fold polyps in their lives can have minimally invasive surgery to remove the vocal fold polyps with laser or plasma, but they still need general anesthesia and can be considered for discharge 3-5 days after surgery, but it still needs to be decided according to the patient’s condition. If there is a significant improvement in the patient’s voice immediately after the vocal fold polyp surgery, the consolidation treatment can be done for 4 days. However, if the patient’s voice is still very hoarse, it means that the vocal cord mucosa is highly congested and edematous, often due to the surgery, so it is best for the patient to stay in the hospital for a few more days, using anti-inflammatory drugs nebulized inhalation to reduce the congestion and edema of the vocal cord, and then consider discharge when the patient’s condition improves significantly. In addition, patients are advised to talk less to reduce the chance of developing vocal cord polyps.
