Can painkillers stop the itching?

Painkillers have some effect on itching if they are nerve painkillers. If they are NSAIDs, they generally do not stop the itching.

The more common types of painkillers include NSAIDs and neuropathic painkillers, such as aspirin, painkillers, gabapentin capsules, pregabalin capsules, and so on.

NSAIDs are commonly used to treat pain caused by fever, colds, flu, and after surgery, but painkillers generally do not relieve itching.

Neuropathic painkillers can be used to treat postherpetic neuralgia, epilepsy, and other conditions, and can provide some relief for itchy skin caused by herpes infections, itching associated with chronic kidney disease, and unexplained itching.

The medication should be used under a doctor’s supervision to avoid self-medication.
