Codonopsis pilosula and red ginseng are two different kinds of herbs, which have better therapeutic effects on their respective indications, so the statement that Codonopsis pilosula and red ginseng are more effective is unscientific. Codonopsis has the effects of strengthening the spleen and lungs (strengthening the functions of spleen and lungs), nourishing blood and generating body fluid. It has good effect on improving or treating deficiency of spleen and lung qi, poor appetite and tiredness, cough and asthma, deficiency of qi and blood, yellowish color (yellowish color without luster), palpitation (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), shortness of breath, and thirst due to injury of fluid. Red ginseng has the effects of tonifying the vital energy (replenishing the body’s root qi), restoring the pulse and stabilizing the blood (restoring the normal pulse and preventing the release of substances), and benefiting the qi to regulate the blood (preventing bleeding by tonifying the qi). Red ginseng is effective in improving or treating conditions such as weakness and desire to shed, cold limbs and weak pulse, failure of qi to regulate blood, and discharging of blood in the form of discharges (excessive menstrual flow or dripping). Codonopsis pilosula and red ginseng have different effects and functions and can treat different diseases respectively, so there is no argument that which one is more effective. It should be noted that Codonopsis pilosula should not be used together with quinoa, while red ginseng should not be used together with quinoa and wulingzhi. In addition, the choice of traditional Chinese medicine is closely related to the condition, constitution and other factors, so it should be reasonably used under the guidance of the doctor’s diagnosis and should not be blindly used on its own.
