Clinical analysis of two surgical methods for the treatment of vocal fold polyps

OBJECTIVE: To conduct a multilevel analysis of cases of two surgical methods for the treatment of vocal fold polyps and to explore the rational choice of surgical methods for the treatment of vocal fold polyps. METHODS: We analyzed 300 cases of vocal fold polyps that were removed by hose endoscopic curved polyp forceps and microscopically supported laryngoscopy in our department in 1993 in terms of voice recovery time, efficacy, complications, patient subjective satisfaction, cost, and reasons for failure. CONCLUSION: The efficacy of the curved polyp forceps removal surgery with a hose endoscope was similar to that of microscopically supported laryngoscopy, but it was significantly better than microscopically supported laryngoscopy in terms of the incidence of complications, subjective patient acceptance, and cost. The dual-access surgery with a hose endoscopic curved polyp forceps is a procedure worth promoting.
