What does diffuse hepatic lesion mean? Is it serious?

Diffuse hepatic lesions are a manifestation of liver imaging, which are generally more extensive and therefore more serious. Liver diffuse lesion refers to the diffuse distribution of liver tissue lesions in the liver, which is common in fatty liver, hepatitis, cirrhosis, alcoholic liver disease, etc. Some giant hepatocellular carcinomas can also be manifested as liver diffuse lesions on imaging. Diffuse hepatic lesions are common in patients with hepatitis B. Hepatitis B virus destroys liver tissues for a long time, and fibrous hyperplasia occurs in the process of liver repair, and the lesions are diffuse in the whole liver tissues, thus presenting the image of diffuse lesions on imaging examination. In general, diffuse liver lesions are a long-term process. Liver tissue is damaged by the disease and then continuously repairs itself, which eventually leads to the lesions diffusing throughout the liver, and then develops into cirrhosis, which can even lead to liver failure, and therefore is more serious. Diffuse liver lesions need to be treated actively to slow down and control the progression of the disease.
