Patient: Description of condition (onset, main symptoms, hospital visited, etc.): 4 days ago when I woke up in the morning, I found that my mouth was not sharp when I rinsed my mouth, I had difficulty chewing on the right side when I ate, I had no sensation on the right side of my face, and only the left side of my frown had lines, but not the right side. There are always tears in the right eye, and the mouth is crooked to the left when eating and laughing. I went to the hospital to get acupuncture, but the doctor wanted me to be hospitalized first with an IV, and I have not yet had acupuncture treatment. I am a bit desperate. I would like to know the best time to treat this disease, for fear of delaying it. I’m looking forward to your reply, thank you! Liu Jianfeng, Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Guangzhou Panyu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine: Please don’t worry, western doctors all think that acupuncture can only be done after 7 days.
Patient: Thank you for your reply. This makes me less anxious. Thank you.

Western medicine believes that the first 7 days or even 14 days of facial palsy is the acute inflammation period, so acupuncture is not allowed, so general doctors do not necessarily dare to give you acupuncture to avoid getting into trouble, and it is not wrong to do the usual procedure even if there is no effect.
My personal experience is: facial palsy can be acupuncture from the first day, to dispel the wind and cold to solve the surface of the ligament as the principle of treatment, specific operation: facial flash jar, moxibustion, body acupuncture points: rate of Valley, Fengchi, Wai Guan, Zhongzhu, Hegu (double) dispel the wind and cold to solve the surface, foot three miles to fill the meridian, Taichong extinguish the wind, plus identify the points. Combine with appropriate Chinese and Western medicines. After the acute phase, the face will be the main focus.
Patient: Thank you for your enthusiastic help.
