MODS is the clinical abbreviation for multiple organ failure. Its common cause is mainly seen in major surgery, severe trauma or severe infection caused by sepsis, and sequential appearance of multiple organ insufficiency. The following points should be noted: 1. Multiple organ failure emphasizes the need to exclude chronic diseases or organ failure caused by chronic functional degeneration, which is not a causative factor of multiple organ failure. 2. Multiple organ failure must occur at intervals of more than 24 hours. 3. The original organ function must be normal for patients with multiple organ insufficiency or failure, that is, the organ function must be normal before the onset of the disease.
