Coriander is used to expel water and dampness from the body through diarrhea. It is also used externally to kill worms and heal sores. It can be used to treat oedema and fullness, fluid retention in the chest and abdomen, accumulation of phlegm and drink, rebellious coughing and asthma, and unfavorable bowel movements; externally, it is used for scabies, bald sores, carbuncles and frostbite.
Coriander is the dried flower buds of Coriandrum sativum, which is bitter, pungent and warm in nature, and belongs to the three meridians of the lung meridian of the hand taiyin, the spleen meridian of the foot taiyin and the kidney meridian of the foot shaoyin. It has the efficacy of diuresis and expulsion of water and drink, and can be used externally to kill worms and heal sores, mainly used for edema and distension, chest and abdominal fluid retention, phlegm and drink accumulation, gas reversal, coughing and asthma, and bowel movements; and externally to treat scabies and baldness, carbuncles and frostbite.
The adverse effects of coriander have not been clarified, can not be used with licorice, pregnant women, the frail is prohibited.
