Breast Conservation or Total Excision for Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Whether breast-conserving or total excision is better for triple-negative breast cancer generally needs to be decided according to the patient’s condition.
1. Breast-conserving surgery: it is generally applicable to patients with stage II breast cancer, with the maximum diameter of the tumor less than or equal to 3cm, and with the demand for breast conservation. The resection range of breast preserving mastectomy is 1~2cm of the tumor and the tissues around the tumor. Stage III breast cancer patients may also reach the breast preservation standard after neoadjuvant chemotherapy downstaging.
2. Total mastectomy: generally applicable to patients with carcinoma in situ, micro carcinoma and those who are old and weak and not suitable for radical surgery. The scope of surgical excision is the whole breast, including the tail of axilla and pectoralis major muscle fascia.
It is suggested that patients should pay attention to their diet after surgery, which should be low-fat and high-protein, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, quit smoking and forbid alcohol, do more exercise to enhance physical fitness, and undergo regular review to prevent recurrence.
