Patient: diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus in 1997, started insulin therapy, frequently experienced hypoglycemia, and was treated with Dana insulin pump in 2002.
In patients with long duration of the disease, most of the patients have no feeling of panic, sweating and hunger due to repeated hypoglycemia, impaired plant nerve function and decreased perception of hypoglycemia by the central nervous system. This condition is more harmful and dangerous, and the occurrence of severe hypoglycemia should be avoided as much as possible in the course of treatment. The best way is to measure blood glucose several times a day (before and after three meals), including the blood glucose at 3:00 a.m., in order to find out the time and pattern of hypoglycemia and adjust the infusion rate and dose of insulin at each time period under the condition of relatively fixed diet and exercise. If necessary, 72-hour ambulatory glucose monitoring can be used to find out the time and pattern of hypoglycemia, so as to take corresponding adjustment measures.
