Urinary incontinence after lumbar spine fracture surgery is considered to be caused by postoperative normal condition and injury of cauda equina, etc. It can be treated conservatively, surgically, and so on.
1. Postoperative normal situation: after lumbar spine surgery, urination usually takes about three days to return to normal, in addition, because the patient is not accustomed to bed urination, or before due to the insertion of urinary catheter time is too long, so that the bladder function decreases, resulting in the inability to urinate on their own or urinary incompletion of the situation, but for the operation is large or the physical quality of the patient, the recovery time will be extended appropriately.
2. Damage to the cauda equina: lumbar vertebral fracture and dislocation can be secondary to injury to the cauda equina, urinary and fecal dysfunction, supplemented by X-ray, CT, MRI, etc. can be diagnosed with the location and extent of the lesion.
For minor injuries, hard bed rest, high-dose methylprednisolone shock therapy, dehydration (furosemide) and hyperbaric oxygen therapy can prevent or reduce the secondary injury of the cauda equina. In cases of severe injury, surgical treatment is usually required.
There may be other causes of postoperative dysuria after lumbar spine fracture, it is recommended to contact the supervising physician in time, and the above medications need to be used under the guidance of a doctor.
