Patients with severe neocoronavirus pneumonia may have a low to moderate fever during the course of the disease, and some patients may even have no significant fever. Early presentation of neocoronavirus pneumonia is characterized by fever, malaise, and a dry cough.
A small number of patients may have a stuffy nose, runny nose, and diarrhea. Most patients with severe disease develop respiratory distress after a week, and in severe cases it can progress rapidly to acute respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, uncorrectable metabolic acidosis and coagulopathy. There is no specific drug for the new pneumonia, but only symptomatic treatment.
