Obstetrician’s dilemma: Cesarean? Birth?

I’ve been depressed for over 20 days and now I finally want to face it head on! The obstetrics department is faced with pregnant women every day, should they give birth? Or cesarean? is our daily constant topic! Originally the birth of a child is the physiological process of human reproduction, although the process of potential high risk, but the vast majority of pregnant women have the opportunity to vaginal delivery, but why China’s cesarean section rate remains high? The reason is probably the following aspects: 1. First of all, pregnant women, due to in-depth understanding of the physiological process of labor and delivery, fear of pain, as well as the failure of the trial of labor after the cesarean section, so simply choose a cesarean section; 2. Secondly, family members, most of them think that family planning is not allowed to give birth to more than one child, just give birth to a child, cesarean section does not suffer, and then there is the fear of giving birth to a baby in the course of the baby accident; 3. Medical reasons. Economic income, a cesarean section income of about 5,000 yuan, natural delivery of 1,500 to 2,500 yuan, the vaginal trial of labor need to be supervised by a person, too much manpower, cesarean section technology is mature, to reduce the failure of the vaginal trial of labor or delivery process of fetal and infant accidents and the potential for medical disputes. Maternal and child workers are probably aware of the dangers of cesarean delivery! Surgery is a double-edged sword, in solving the problem also brings problems, such as postoperative bleeding, injury and other problems, cesarean section after surgery to conceive again the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy, scar pregnancy, the risk of another cesarean section, postoperative pelvic adhesions, uterine suspension, intestinal adhesions or even intestinal obstruction, lower extremity venous thrombosis and other problems; directly choose cesarean section of a woman’s understanding of life and even human nature, the mother-child emotional connection and other aspects. If a pregnant woman is worried about pain and failed attempts at labor alone, does a doctor directly recommend a cesarean section for fear of being complained about by the patient alone? Reducing the rate of cesarean section is the duty and obligation of each and every one of us who work with women and children, and we may not be understood or complained about, but we still have to strongly advocate vaginal delivery! For every pregnant woman who has a trial of labor and a request for a vaginal delivery, we should encourage and help them to cross this potentially risky hurdle and successfully become a “mother”!
