For early detection of hearing impairment, routine hearing screening should be performed during the baby’s hospitalization for 42 days after birth and every year from 1-6 years of age. Universal hearing screening of newborns and follow-up of their hearing and speech status during their growth and development are important measures for early detection of hearing impairment in newborns. In addition, even if the baby passes the routine hearing screening, if conditions that may lead to hearing impairment occur in life, such as otitis media, cranial trauma, mumps, meningitis, measles, etc., hearing tests should be performed promptly in order to detect hearing impairment early.
