Patients whose feet have been stabbed by nails usually take about 2 weeks to gradually recover. A foot accidentally pierced by a nail, especially by a rusty nail, should be seen immediately at a hospital, disinfected, and given a tetanus vaccine or tetanus antitoxin in combination with a history of previous tetanus vaccination. The recovery from trauma is related to the severity of the trauma, the patient’s physical condition, and whether the trauma is combined with infection. Generally, 5-7 days after the injury, the redness and swelling symptoms can gradually subside, pain can be gradually relieved, and the wound can basically heal in about 2 weeks. Patients should go to the hospital regularly to change medicine, disinfect the wound, and if it is a more serious contaminated wound, oral antibacterial drugs should be taken to prevent infection. In addition, because these wounds are small and deep, tetanus infection can easily occur. Therefore, if the patient has painful redness and swelling of the wound and symptoms such as headache, weakness, irritability, yawning, as well as the presence of facial muscle tension and difficulty in opening the mouth, he/she should go to the hospital promptly, except for tetanus.
