Drugs of choice for laryngeal edema

Usually, laryngeal edema is caused by acute drug allergy or acute laryngitis, therefore, clinical symptoms such as localized sore throat will occur, and the most severe cases will have respiratory distress. Laryngoedema can cause asphyxia if left untreated, and the preferred medication is epinephrine intravenous push or desensitization with dexamethasone, prednisolone, methylprednisolone, etc. If these medications are ineffective, further progression of laryngeal edema can result and surgical treatment by tracheotomy must be performed. In addition, laryngeal edema can be treated with drugs such as licorice, maidenhair, orris, and genistein, which can be mixed and pounded, and anti-inflammatory drugs such as ciprofloxacin, which can be taken to control edema.
