Why are people with diabetes getting younger?

In the past, people had the impression that diabetes was the “preserve” of the middle-aged and elderly. Although the main population of type 1 diabetes is adolescents, studies have shown that the incidence of diabetes in children under 15 years of age has increased nearly fourfold in the past 20 years. Type 2 diabetes, which mostly develops after the age of 35-40, is also emerging among adolescents. Diabetes is starting to “target” young people! Reasons why diabetes is getting younger 1. With the development of technology, many people need to use computers in their work, which leads to longer sitting time and less exercise every day. Due to the strenuous work, they also do not want to exercise after work, resulting in a significant lack of exercise throughout the day. Type 2 diabetes is considered a disease of lack of exercise, and its onset is related to the lack of exercise, so strengthening physical exercise can effectively prevent diabetes. 2, diet structure change With the improvement of lifestyle, many people become not love to eat vegetables, fruits, but choose high-fat, high-sugar food, such as large fish, meat, fried food, etc., easy to lead to excessive energy intake, increase the prevalence of obesity and lead to the early onset of diabetes. Unhealthy eating habits are closely related to the occurrence of diabetes, so it is recommended that the diet principle of low-fat, low-sugar, low-calorie, high-fiber should be followed to reduce its incidence. 3, life and work pressure become large With the accelerated pace of life, many people feel pressure in life and work, if the pressure is too much, it is easy to lead to increased secretion of glucose hormone in the human body, which is easy to cause diabetes. Therefore, usually should pay attention to the combination of work and rest, timely adjustment of life and work in the pressure, to avoid the impact of bad emotions. 4, lack of sleep Young people are very energetic or due to the attraction of cell phones, computers and other electronic products, so that there is a serious lack of sleep. And lack of sleep will make the body secrete nearly half of the insulin, and its insulin sensitivity will be greatly reduced. And when the body lacks the insulin responsiveness of blood sugar in the body, the body’s blood sugar will rise rapidly, thus triggering diabetes. In conclusion, with the gradual youthfulness of diabetes, it is imperative for young people to prevent diabetes. Daily improvement of bad habits, reducing the intake of high-energy foods, eating more vegetables and fruits, and exercising more, as well as paying attention to stress relief and avoiding staying up late, are powerful measures to prevent diabetes.
