Total cholesterol 7.5 without medication?

The normal reference value of total serum cholesterol is 2.85-5.69 mmol/L. If the total cholesterol is 7.5 mmol/L, which is severely above the normal range, it is considered high total cholesterolemia and needs to be treated with medication. There are many causes of high cholesterol, such as eating large amounts of animal offal, long-term alcohol consumption, obstructive jaundice, liver cell damage, family genetics, and low activity levels can all contribute to high total cholesterol. High cholesterol needs to be treated in conjunction with the patient’s own condition as well as the lipid level. Patients with high total cholesterol need to actively improve their lifestyle, control their diet, eat less cholesterol-containing foods, and exercise to alleviate it. It also needs to be combined with appropriate medication, and oral statins such as simvastatin and atorvastatin are recommended. If the total cholesterol cannot be controlled within a desirable range after increasing the drug dose, cholesterol absorption inhibitors can be applied in combination to lower the lipids. If adverse reactions such as headache, exertion, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, rash, etc. occur when using statins, it is necessary to stop using them and it is recommended to switch to less allergenic Chinese medicines, such as Blood Lipid Kang capsules, which can also play a good role in reducing blood lipids. Therefore, high blood lipids must be actively treated with medication, otherwise it is easy to cause atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, stroke, fatty liver, renal artery stenosis and other diseases, which can be serious and directly life-threatening.
