Some knowledge about the prevention and treatment of IgA nephropathy in Chinese medicine: IgA nephropathy is a common and frequent disease among glomerulonephritis in China, and reports from Japan show that 50% of patients with IgA nephropathy develop end-stage renal failure within 10 years. Through the clinical and scientific research work of three generations of nephrologists, our department has accumulated rich experience in the treatment and prevention of this disease. In Chinese medicine, the disease occurs when the human body’s resistance is low, feeling the evil of wind-heat or damp-heat, damaging the yin complex, or thinking and exertion damage the spleen and kidneys, loss of harmony between qi and blood, resulting in blockage of blood, blood does not follow the normal pathway to produce blood in urine. In our treatment, we first identify the presence or absence of external sensation. The disease is often triggered by external sensation. For example, skin infections, colds, etc.; secondly, to identify the presence or absence of heat. Heat tends to injure the blood channels, leading to bleeding. There are internal heat and external heat, deficiency heat and actual heat. For example, deficiency heat is mainly due to deficiency of kidney yin and internal heat of yin deficiency; third, identify whether there is blood stasis. Because the disease has a long history and is prone to recurrent attacks, it often enters the ligament after a long period of illness and stasis of blood blocks the ligament, resulting in blood not returning to the meridian, leading to the onset of blood in the urine. For example, the patient can see tingling pain in the lower back and abdomen, purple and dark tongue with stasis, etc. Clinically, we can achieve good results in refractory IgA nephropathy such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, diffuse tract damage with proliferation and sclerosis through dialectical treatment and selection of corresponding empirical formula in combination with the pathological type of renal biopsy or synergistic application of hormone or immunosuppressive therapy. Some of the recommended medicinal dietary therapy for IgA nephropathy: (1) IgA nephropathy with hematuria caused by damp heat: 30 grams of plantain, 30 grams of white foxglove, and the right amount of sugar. First decoct the first two in water to obtain juice, add sugar to mix and drink as tea. (2) IgA nephropathy with deficiency of both spleen and kidney leading to hematuria: Astragalus membranaceus 30 grams, Golden cherry 30 grams, lean pork 15 grams, Agaricus blazei 15 grams. First, add the first three with water and decoction, then remove the dregs, add the gum dissolve, drink soup and eat meat.
