Can HPV cause condyloma acuminatum?

The virus that causes warts – HPV, the human papillomavirus – is very diverse and causes more diseases than just warts, such as wart (common wart), flat warts that young women tend to get, and cervical cancer in women, all of which are caused by HPV. The reason why there are various diseases and different manifestations is related to the subtypes of HPV infection, the most common subtypes that cause warts are type 6 and 11. HPV virus can promote the proliferation of human epidermal cells, which are faster than the surrounding normal skin, thus leading to the occurrence of warts. HPV high-risk subtypes are closely related to the occurrence of cervical cancer in women. If you find yourself infected with HPV high-risk subtypes, you must pay attention to regular checkups. In addition, TCT (cervical cytology) tests should be done to see if there are any cancerous or precancerous lesions in the cervix, and if there are problems, colposcopy should be done further. The pathology test is the gold standard, and depending on the degree of cancer, the appropriate treatment can be formulated. If CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) grade II involves the gland, grade III or cervical cancer, early surgery is necessary. Foreign guidelines now recommend regular cervical HPV screening for women over 30 years of age and recommend HPV vaccination to prevent HPV infection before sexual intercourse begins. In addition to cervical cancer, HPV infection can also lead to other malignancies such as vulvar cancer, penile cancer, anal cancer, bladder cancer, etc. It can even affect the mouth and throat.
