Depending on the location of the stones, the treatment methods are different, as follows: 1. common bile duct stones: small stones can be removed by endoscopic minimally invasive surgery; 2. extrahepatic bile duct stones: larger stones require open or minimally invasive surgery to remove stones; 3. intrahepatic bile duct stones: conservative treatment with oral medication when there are no obvious symptoms; if the stones are limited in extent and the corresponding symptoms appear, partial hepatectomy is considered; if the stones are large in extent, hemihepatectomy can be performed; 4. liver transplantation is considered when cirrhosis or fibrosis appears; 5. other treatment measures, such as reconstruction.
