CA242 is mainly a tumor marker for detecting pancreatic cancer and colon cancer, and the normal serum value is usually lower than 12KU/L. High CA242 may occur in tumor diseases such as pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, intestinal cancer, ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, breast cancer, or inflammatory diseases of some organs, but the main reason for high CA242 is inflammation of the digestive system or digestive tract tumors. If CA242 is detected to be high, patients can further improve relevant examinations, such as routine blood tests, ultrasound, CT examinations, and gastrointestinal endoscopy if necessary, to clarify the specific cause of the high level. 1. Inflammation of the digestive system: diseases such as gastritis, cholangitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis or colitis can increase cell necrosis and repair, resulting in elevated CA242; 2. CA242 appears to be elevated; 2. Gastrointestinal tumors: If CA242 value exceeds 3 times the normal value or more, it suggests that you may have gastrointestinal tumors, such as colon cancer and pancreatic cancer, but CA242 is only a supplemental test indicator for pancreatic cancer and colon cancer. Usually, the preferred tumor marker for pancreatic cancer is CA199 and for colon cancer is CEA. If CA199 or CEA is elevated at the same time, pancreatic cancer or colon cancer can be highly suspected. Patients can undergo biopsy under electronic colonoscopy to confirm whether it is colon cancer, or abdominal ultrasound or CT examination to clarify whether it is pancreatic cancer.
