Mycoplasma pneumonia is usually hospitalized for about 1 week. However, most patients with mycoplasma pneumonia do not need to be hospitalized and can do better with oral medications at home. Of course, some patients with more severe mycoplasma pneumonia may need to be hospitalized for about 2-3 weeks.
Mycoplasma pneumonia is an acute infectious disease caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. If the patient’s condition is relatively mild, oral medication is usually required under the direction of a physician, and the general course of treatment is 1-2 weeks.
However, for those with more severe symptoms that cannot be controlled by oral medication, or those with other underlying cardiopulmonary diseases, hospitalization is available, usually for about 1 week, with better results. For some of the more severe cases, the duration of treatment will be extended accordingly, up to 2-3 weeks.
During hospitalization, patients with mycoplasma pneumonia should be treated with standardized medications as prescribed by the doctor, including antibiotics, such as azithromycin, erythromycin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, and so on. One point to note is that these drugs may have some contraindications and produce adverse reactions, and patients must communicate in detail with the attending physician to avoid contraindications and be alert to side effects.
