High bile acid in pregnant women is an abnormality during pregnancy. If high bile acid is considered cholestasis, it can have some effect on the fetus during pregnancy. If the elevated bile acid is not too significant and is not severe cholestasis, it may be relatively safe. If cholestasis develops during pregnancy, it can have an effect on the development or vital signs of the fetus, for example, it can cause premature birth, hypoxia or respiratory distress. If the bile acid is mildly elevated, the effect on the fetus is not too great. In the case of severe bile acid elevation, the effect may be greater. If the fetus is delivered without asphyxia, the prognosis is good.
