Problems of allergic rhinitis

Patient: First diagnosed with allergic rhinitis and hay fever in August last year. On August 8, 2008, he attended a wedding, and the wedding site was very cold, so he needed to wear long sleeves. After seeing a Chinese medicine practitioner several times, the sneezing subsided with medication, but the sneezing still did not stop. The doctor prescribed Stasol, Shunerin and a kind of nose spray, but it was also the beginning of September and the child’s symptoms were relieved, so no medicine was given. By the Spring Festival of 2009, the child had mycoplasma pneumonia and was hospitalized for a week, and has been weak and feeble since being discharged. By the summer, I paid attention to food conditioning, but he over-exercised and ate more lung-supplementing and heart-healthy foods. At the beginning of August this year, the child went to his grandmother’s house in the countryside to play, climbing mountains daily and also swimming in the river, and again developed allergy symptoms, severe nasal congestion, breathing only through his mouth at night, red conjunctiva of the eyes, and one day, edema on the inner side of the lower eyelid, which was relieved by using Dengbishu drops once and then not used again. On August 12, I started to take Cisplatin (5mg/tablet, once a day at bedtime), Staphysol 10ML/day, and topical application of Endosol (once a day at bedtime, press each nostril), I felt that Staphysol and Cisplatin had little effect in relieving the nasal congestion, but Endosol had an effect two days after use. Now the child is basically normal, sleep at night can also be, but every day will have a few sneezing, blowing the nose. In the middle, there was a fever, 38.1-38.6 for three days, 39 degrees for one day, oral rosacea for three days, and six days of azithromycin, and six days of double yellow lotus, all of which were used at intervals with allergy medicine. Now the child’s situation has been relieved, occasionally sneezing two or three times, only the eyes are still congested, often picking nose and eyes, sleep at night is not good, dreamy, stools are sometimes dry, since August 25, Shun Er Ning to take two days to stop a day, Neshu Na from September 1 every other day with a I would like to ask Dr. Zhang, 1, Shun Er Ning want to give the child to stop the use of okay, because he has never had asthma and no history of this disease, I feel that the child’s eyes are not so good. I feel that this medication is causing a lot of trouble for my child’s sleepy eyes, he has a lot of dreams, and sometimes he has a feeling of dizziness. Is it possible to stop taking it? If not, how should I reduce it? 2. I would like to give my child a period of time to use Chinese herbal medicine to regulate his asthma, is it possible to reduce the number of times of using Nesuna during this period, and if so, how should I reduce it? 3.What else can we do with the child’s condition? Is there any conflict between nebulized inhalation with saline or nebulized inhalation with Chinese herbal medicine and Nesuna, and is it helpful? Zhang Lei, Department of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine, Shanghai Children’s Medical Center: 1. I would like to stop taking Shunyerin for my child because he has never had asthma and has no history of it, but I feel that this medicine is causing a lot of trouble for my child’s sleepy eyes, dreamy and sometimes dizzy. Is it possible to stop taking it? If not, how should I reduce it? (If the side effects of the drug really affect the mental system, we should stop using it. If we reduce the dosage as you said, or stop using it, or use it every other day, it will not be effective. (Regarding Chinese medicine, it is difficult for me to evaluate this, but I just want to tell you that the side effects of Nesuna are very small in the long term, and the reduction of dosage is also after Nesuna has controlled the disease). 3.What else can we do with the child’s condition? Is there any conflict between nebulized inhalation with saline or nebulized inhalation with Chinese herbal medicine and Nesuna, and is it helpful? (For the current situation, the effect of Nesuna on the control of your child’s condition is still positive, so I suggest to make dosage adjustment under the guidance of the allergist, and not to increase or decrease the dosage by yourself. I also recommend quantitative allergen measurement for your child and desensitization therapy if necessary.)
