Taking Deafness Zuo Ci Wan is not a treatment for hallucinations.
Deafness Zuo Ci Pill is composed of Magnetite (calcined), Cornus officinalis (made), Chinese yam, Poria, and Zedoaria. In the formula, Magnetite calms the liver and subdues yang (inhibiting too much rising yang qi in the liver), brightens ears and eyes; Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum tonifies the liver and kidney; Chinese yam enriches qi and nourishes yin; Poria strengthens the spleen and nourishes the heart; Ze Xie Diaphragm induces drainage and seepage of dampness (promoting the operation of water and fluid to dispel dampness); the combination of all the medicines has the efficacy of nourishing kidney and calming liver.
Patients with liver and kidney yin deficiency, dizziness, tinnitus and deafness can take this product.
The adverse reactions and contraindications of Deafness Zuo Ci Wan are not clear. Note that it should not be taken when one has a cold; this product is only used for tinnitus like cicadas with gradual loss of hearing in cases of liver and kidney yin deficiency, and any tinnitus arising from lesions of the outer or middle ear should go to the hospital for consultation.
Judging from the efficacy and effects of Deafness Zuo Ci Wan, this product cannot treat phantom hearing. Phantom hearing should be promptly consulted and treated under the guidance of a physician.
