It is well known that chronic excessive alcohol consumption is a risk factor for the development of hypertension and cardiovascular disease, and that alcohol consumption can also counteract the effects of antihypertensive medications, making blood pressure less controllable; after abstaining from alcohol, blood pressure decreases and the efficacy of antihypertensive medications is greatly improved. Although it has been reported that small amounts of alcohol can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, there are different definitions of small amounts of alcohol and it is difficult to reach a consensus on the relationship between different amounts of alcohol and health, so small amounts of alcohol are not advocated to prevent coronary heart disease. Patients with hypertension are advised not to drink alcohol. Alcohol is calculated as follows: the proportion of alcohol in white wine is slightly lower than the alcohol content of wine, e.g. 39° white wine has an alcohol content of 32.5%; wine has an alcohol content of 13-15%; and beer has an alcohol content of about 4%. According to this calculation, the alcohol content of grape wine is less than 100-150ml (equivalent to 2-3 taels), or beer is less than 250-500ml (half a catty – one catty), or white wine is less than 25-50ml (half a tael – one tael). When accompanying the elderly during the New Year’s holidays, in order to show filial piety to the elderly, often not only drink “one bite” themselves, but also constantly advise the elderly to “cheers”. In fact, this is very bad for health. When you have to drink alcohol, try to slow down the speed of drinking, avoid “cheers” or “a sip”, drink with meals, slow down the absorption of alcohol, reduce the stimulation of alcohol on the stomach. Do not drink highly potent alcohol, and do not send your elders highly concentrated potent alcohol to show your filial piety, as it will not only cost you more money, but may also hurt their bodies because of your filial piety.
