For duodenal bulb erosion, it is recommended to complete carbon 14 and carbon 13 breath tests to monitor the presence of H. pylori infection. If the test is positive, a quadruple therapy is recommended for treatment. Commonly used are proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole enteric capsules, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, and esomeprazole. Gastric mucosal protective agents, such as compound bismuth aluminate granules, bismuth pectin, aluminum phosphate gel, and aluminum thioglycollate. Application of two-combination antibiotics, often chosen from amoxicillin, tinidazole, clarithromycin, levofloxacin hydrochloride, furazolidone, tetracycline, etc. The antibiotics need to be chosen in two combinations and the recommended course of treatment is two weeks. If the test is negative for H. pylori infection, only gastric mucosal protection plus treatment with a proton pump inhibitor is required. If the patient agrees, oral treatment with Chinese herbs can also be applied with evidence. Chinese herbs are very effective in gastric disease as well as in erosion of the duodenal bulb.
