The color of the sputum often varies depending on the pathogen that infects the patient with pneumonia. For example, in patients with Staphylococcus aureus pneumonia, the sputum is often yellow; in patients with pneumonia infected with Streptococcus pneumoniae, the sputum is iron embroidered; in patients infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the sputum is yellow-green; in patients infected with Candida albicans, the sputum is white drawn; and in patients with viral pneumonia, the sputum is expressed as white mucus sputum.
