What is the treatment of chemotherapy hand-foot syndrome?

If chemotherapy has caused hand-foot syndrome, suspension of treatment and drug tapering are the most effective measures to mitigate hand-foot syndrome, which requires a treatment approach based on the severity of the reaction and the number of times it occurs. If the hand-foot syndrome is severe one can first consider suspending treatment and then continue the chemotherapy drug at a reduced dose after the hand-foot syndrome has abated. If the hand-foot syndrome is mild, the patient can tolerate it and in some cases no treatment is needed. Some studies have found that oral vitamin B6 can reduce the incidence of hand-foot syndrome, and some studies have found that oral celecoxib can prevent hand-foot syndrome. If thickening of the skin on the hands and feet is obvious, topical application of urea ointment can also be tried; some patients have used Chinese herbal medicine, which is also effective in preventing and treating hand-foot syndrome.
