ADHD in children and treatment

What is ADHD (childhood hyperactivity disorder)? ADHD is a disorder, not a specific label for naughty children, but a neurological and psychiatric developmental disorder of childhood. It is mainly characterized by age-inappropriate distractibility, reduced attention span, inappropriate hyperactivity, emotional impulsivity, and is mostly associated with cognitive impairment and learning difficulties. Currently, the prevalence of ADHD in children is about 4% to 6%, with the prevalence in boys being about three times higher than that in girls. According to surveys, there are an estimated 14.61 million to 19.79 million school-age children with ADHD in China. If parents find that their child is showing symptoms similar to ADHD, they must take their child to a regular hospital for relevant tests as soon as possible. Check whether your child really has ADHD. If it is determined that your child has ADHD, there is no need for parents to be too nervous. Receiving professional rehabilitation treatment can lead to significant improvement or complete recovery in 3 to 12 months, but not receiving timely treatment can have a huge impact on your child’s schooling, social interaction, emotional communication and behavioral development, leading to poor academic performance and low occupational status. The main symptoms of ADHD are: 1. Attention deficit, which is mainly manifested by the inability to focus, children may suddenly jump from one thing to another, forgetfulness and wandering eyes, and low efficiency. 2, hyperactivity and impulsiveness, which is mainly manifested as too much activity, can not think quietly, can not control their own behavior, always emotionally restless, and blindly busy with nothing, can not control the desire to fiddle with something. 3. Impulsive behavior makes children never think twice about what they say and do, and they are reckless, and sometimes they lose their temper and even hurt other children. What are the factors affecting hyperactivity in children? 1, minor brain tissue damage; 2, genetic factors; 3, abnormal neurotransmitter metabolism in the brain; 4, with vitamin deficiencies, food allergies; 5, poor family environment and educational methods, in addition, environmental pollution and lead pollution (such as toys containing lead) or deficiencies in trace elements (such as iron, zinc) are also causes of the disease. What are the main interventions for ADHD? 1. What are the programs of rehabilitation training? 1.Sensory Integration Therapy: Based on the neurological needs of children, the training is to guide the appropriate response to sensory stimuli, which provides vestibular (gravity and movement), proprioceptive (muscles and sensation) and tactile stimulation of the whole body movement. 2, attention training: mainly for auditory attention, visual attention training, aimed at training the child’s auditory attention, improve the completion rate of auditory instructions, enhance visual attention retention time, improve visual input function. 3.Low-frequency pulse electrotherapy: the application of electronic instruments acting on the body to reduce neuromuscular excitability of relaxation treatment, improve the quality of sleep in children.
