In recent years, the incidence of ADHD in children has been increasing year by year. According to relevant statistics, the current incidence of ADHD in school-age children in the city has increased from 3% to 5% 10 years ago. Parents and the lack of correct understanding, a sample survey found that parents generally have four major misconceptions: 1, naughty and active plus poor performance of children with ADHD: the survey showed that nearly 30% of parents see their children naughty and active, poor performance, they blindly think that their children suffer from ADHD. This kind of parents are prone to believe some non-medical institutions advertising lull, buy their own medicine, unauthorized treatment. 2, smart, not much activity children and ADHD insulation: do not know, ADHD children’s clinical performance is very different, some children “hyperactive” is not obvious, but inattentive performance is the main. These children are honest in the classroom, but they are actually distracted and often “distracted”. Doing homework, exams also lose three or four, the error rate is high. 3, ADHD is not a disease, will disappear since adulthood: This is a very wrong understanding of many parents. Research shows that 40% to 50% of children with ADHD have varying degrees of hyperactivity symptoms in adulthood, leading to difficulties in education, employment, interpersonal communication and marriage, and even 10% have serious mental illness and antisocial behavior. 4, the treatment of ADHD relies solely on drugs: because the cause of ADHD is caused by physical, psychological, social and other factors, it is difficult to cure with drugs alone. A hyperactive child may not necessarily be a child with ADHD. For example, of the 200 children between the ages of 7 and 15 who visited the clinic, about 20 to 30 percent were diagnosed with ADHD through a detailed history, psychological assessment, neurological examination and the combination of the American IVA testing software. Of these children, 5% had intellectual and neurological problems, and 15% had inappropriate education at home and school, requiring psychological, behavioral and study habit modification.
