The adnexa include the ovaries, but not simply the ovaries. The uterine adnexa include the broad ligament next to the uterus, the ovaries, and the fallopian tubes, of which the ovaries are only a part. The fallopian tubes are the muscular tubes that connect the uterus to the ovaries, through which the eggs can enter the uterus. If the fallopian tubes are blocked, the egg cannot enter the uterus and cannot unite with the sperm will affect pregnancy. If the fallopian tubes are not open, there is some chance of pregnancy but there is a chance of ectopic pregnancy. If a woman has painful pressure on the abdomen or fever or chills, ultrasound examination is needed to determine if she has acute adnexitis. If she has acute adnexitis, she should be treated with antibiotics and physical therapy to avoid blockage of the fallopian tubes. Ovaries are important secretion organs for women, which can secrete many hormones and are the organs for egg growth and development.
