How long can a lung cancer patient live?

The survival period of lung cancer patients is mainly related to the clinical stage of cancer, patient’s age, treatment effect and physical quality. Lung cancer patients should first determine the type of cancer cells. If it is small cell lung cancer, the prognosis is relatively poor due to higher malignancy, easy recurrence and metastasis, and the general survival period is about 3 years, and if no treatment is given, the survival period does not exceed 1 year. In contrast, patients with non-small cell carcinoma have different prognosis due to different clinical stages, with a general survival period of 3-5 years. In advanced stage patients with brain metastasis, liver metastasis, extensive lung metastasis, etc., the survival period is relatively short, generally within 1 year. At this time, if no treatment is given, the survival period is usually no more than 3 months. Patients with lung cancer are recommended to visit the oncology department of the hospital in time, and professional doctors will formulate reasonable treatment plans according to individual patients’ conditions.
