The course of pain caused by frozen shoulder is usually 1 to 3 years, but the condition varies from patient to patient and there are some individual differences. Frozen shoulder is a self-healing disease that occurs in middle-aged and elderly people. Frozen shoulder is divided into three phases, namely, pain phase, stiffness phase and remission phase. 1. Pain stage: patients feel pain in the shoulder, aggravated by activities, accompanied by stiffness, this stage can last for 10 to 36 weeks. 2. Stiffness period: the pain is gradually reduced, but there is still limited movement of the shoulder joint, reduced mobility, and the shoulder muscles may atrophy, and this period may last for 4 to 12 months. 3. Recovery period: Shoulder pain is relieved, mobility is gradually restored, and the duration of the disease is about 5 to 26 months. If the patient’s pain period is longer, the recovery period is also longer. Therefore, the pain of frozen shoulder can last for 1 to 3 years without treatment, and some patients may be longer. When the pain is obvious, oral non-steroidal analgesics such as celecoxib and clofentezine can be taken under doctor’s supervision, or local closed treatment can be carried out, and the patient’s pain can be significantly improved after treatment.
