Normally a patient with an ophthalmoplegia will require surgical treatment, which takes about 10 minutes. Ophthalmology is a very common clinical eye disease, and most people with ophthalmoplegia can be completely cured with topical medication afterwards. Because mydriasis is mainly caused by bacterial infection, it can subside with the use of effective, sensitive antibiotic eye drops. However, in some patients who do not have their wheals recede after simple topical medication, surgery is recommended. The surgery is a relatively small and safe procedure that can be done on an outpatient basis and takes a relatively short time. If the patient is cooperative, the surgery can take about 10 minutes to complete.
