Jianqu is a kind of proprietary Chinese medicine, the main ingredients of which are Polygonum multiflorum, Cang’er grass, Artemisia absinthium, bitter almonds, adzuki beans, malt, hawthorn (stir-fried), Chenpi, Patchouli, Atractylodes macrocephala, Houpaku, Chuanmuxiang, Angelica dahurica, Hovenia dulcis (stir-fried), betel nut, Perilla frutescens, peppermint, grain buds, Guan Gui, Xiangshu, licorice, wheat gluten, flour and so on.
In the composition, Polygonum tinctorium strengthens the spleen and resolves dampness, Artemisia absinthium clears heat, bitter almonds reduces qi, relieves cough and calms asthma, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae and Atractylodis Macrocephalae regulate qi and strengthens the spleen, Macrocarpalum undergoes qi descending and removes fullness (enabling qi to descend to alleviate the discomfort of fullness), Angelica dahuricae and Perilla frutescens resolve epidemics and disperse cold (removing the cold from the surface of the muscle), Mentha argentatum evacuates wind-heat, Patchouli harmonizes with stomach to relieve vomiting, and Xiangshu regulates qi to regulate middle.
Jianqu is mainly used for treating food stagnation and obstruction of the middle, vomiting and distension, cold and heat headache. The adverse reactions, contraindications and precautions of this product are not clear at present.
People with food stagnation in the stomach should eat a light diet, small meals, greasy, spicy, cold food do not eat; avoid smoking, alcohol.
