Hazards of ventilators

Long-term excessive use of ventilators has the following hazards: First, the decline in lung function, in the process of using ventilators will reduce the expansion capacity of lung breathing, prolonged overuse will cause paralysis of respiratory muscles, weakness and alveolar volume decline, resulting in a decline in lung function. Second, the ventilator is an auxiliary ventilation device, and the positive airway pressure during inspiration is somewhat different from the body’s own breathing. If the ventilator is used for long-term respiratory effects, ventilator-dependent symptoms may occur, such as insufficient respiratory drive, blurred consciousness, and arrhythmia. Third, for patients with pulmonary infectious diseases, excessive use of ventilators may cause accelerated spread of pulmonary infections and the appearance of other complications. It is necessary to use the ventilator reasonably under the guidance of a professional doctor to avoid adverse effects.
