There are several cases of wheezing in the middle of the night: I. Patients with chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and pulmonary heart disease have increased sputum secretion at night, blocking to the airway, appearing to cough up sputum with great effort, and suddenly experiencing increased wheezing. In patients with gastroesophageal reflux, the gastric juice refluxes at night and reaches the trachea through the esophagus, suddenly appearing wheezing and dry cough, and there are usually no symptoms of wheezing during the day. Third, in patients with coronary heart disease and heart failure, they cannot sleep flat at night, and their wheezing worsens and they cough up pink foamy sputum, which is caused by heart failure. Fourth, patients with cough variant asthma mostly have increased wheezing at night without obvious symptoms of coughing up sputum.
