In the female pelvis, the uterus is at the core, and the adjacent fallopian tubes and ovaries are called the adnexa of the uterus. Therefore, adnexitis generally refers to inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, often in combination with parametritis and pelvic peritonitis. Among the inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, tubal inflammation is generally the most common. The common causes of adnexitis (1) prolonged sitting, poor blood circulation, affecting the normal detoxification of the uterine adnexa and inflammation. (2) often wear tight pants, the pubic area is not breathable, excrement accumulation, upstream induced adnexitis. (3) Not to pay attention to hygiene during menstruation, such as menstrual intercourse, or the use of tub bath, germs upstream invasion of the internal genitalia. (4) After childbirth or miscarriage, the body’s resistance decreases, and pathogens infect the genital tract upstream. (5) Infection in other parts of the body when the systemic resistance decreases, and pathogenic bacteria spread through the bloodstream and cause inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries. (6) Inflammation of the pelvis or adjacent organs of the fallopian tubes, such as appendicitis and colitis, can cause tubo-ovarian inflammation and pelvic peritonitis through direct spread, and the inflammation usually occurs in the adjacent side of the fallopian tubes and ovaries. (7) Sexually transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhea, can cause inflammation by direct spread of gonococci up the vaginal mucosa after infection. (8) Intrauterine device is widely used at the same time, the patient does not pay attention to personal hygiene or surgical operation is not strict and caused. (9) Gynecological surgical operations without strict sterilization, such as abortion, hysterectomy, hysterosalpingography, cervical physiotherapy, and obstetrical surgical infections with lax sterilization. The two most common symptoms of acute adnexitis are fever and abdominal pain, and fever can be as high as 38°C or more, and can be accompanied by chills. The abdominal pain is more often severe bilaterally in the lower abdomen, and the pain increases with pressure, sometimes more on one side of the lower abdomen than on the other. In chronic adnexitis, there is no obvious fever and abdominal pain, but only a feeling of soreness or discomfort in the lower back, or a feeling of cramping and pulling in the abdomen, accompanied by increased leucorrhea, menstrual disorders and other symptoms, and sometimes painful intercourse and dysmenorrhea. The symptoms are sometimes mild and sometimes severe, and usually worsen after exertion, sexual intercourse and menstruation. If the disease is prolonged, there are neurosis, such as mental discomfort, lethargy, peripheral discomfort, insomnia, etc. The ovaries and fallopian tubes are the “accessories” of the female reproductive system, but they play a major role. The ovaries are a unique female endocrine organ that produces progesterone, estrogen and a small amount of androgen, which play an important role in women’s growth and development, sex life, childbirth, physical and mental health, and femininity, etc. The eggs that are released each month are necessary for conception. The fallopian tubes are the “bridge” where the sperm and eggs meet, and after the eggs are formed, they are transported to the uterine cavity for implantation. Therefore, the ovaries and fallopian tubes play a major role in the birth of children, and if problems arise, they can cause infertility or ectopic pregnancy, which is something unmarried women should be aware of. This is not only a cause of female infertility, the second sex characteristics weakened and disappeared, but also directly cause endocrine disorders, resulting in premature skin aging, stealing the beauty of women. In addition, chronic adnexitis is not life-threatening, but because of the frequent back pain, abdominal pain, affecting life and work, but also can make patients depressed for a long time.
