Patients with persistent hypertension are prone to pseudomucinous oedema. Mild oedema of the feet, hands and facial muscle tissue often occurs in patients with this type of hypertension and is not treated effectively with thyroxine, but treatment with herbs can be effective. Alcohol abuse can aggravate the swelling of the feet in this condition.
