Is it better to have a CT or MRI for dizziness

MRI is better than CT for dizziness. The exact choice of test depends on which diseases are the main causes of dizziness and mainly excludes organic diseases. Organic diseases that can cause dizziness are mainly lesions in the posterior circulation, such as transient ischemic attacks in the posterior circulation, infarcts and hemorrhages in the posterior circulation, as well as inflammation and tumors in the brainstem or near the cerebellum. MRI is preferred because CT does not show the cerebellum and brainstem well, often with artifacts, and has low resolution, making it difficult to clearly identify inflammation and infarction. Magnetic resonance can clearly distinguish infarct lesions in the acute stage, find tiny lesions that cannot be detected by CT, and further enhancement examination can be done for patients suspected of having tumors or inflammation to help in differential diagnosis.
