Why do you get medulloblastoma?

The cause of medulloblastoma is still unclear, and it is currently believed that it can be related to genetics, viral infections, and so on.
Medulloblastoma is a common malignant tumor in children and is an embryonal tumor. Its current etiology is unknown, and according to the literature, it may be related to factors such as heredity and viral infection.
1. Studies have found that genetic abnormalities such as abnormal copy number of chromosome 17 can occur in medulloblastoma patients. This suggests that the development of medulloblastoma can be associated with genetic factors.
2. It has been shown that intracranial injection of human papilloma multiforme vacuolar virus (JC virus) leads to the formation of tumors in the hamster cerebellum that resemble the medulloblastoma phenotype. Immunohistochemistry and other methods can detect high frequency of JC virus DNA sequences in medulloblastoma specimens, suggesting that there is a clearer relationship between viral infections and medulloblastoma genesis, but direct evidence and theoretical basis are lacking.
