Dwarfism is also a disease, it is important to pay attention to your baby’s growth and development and early intervention!

With the development of social economy and the increasing improvement of material living standard, people’s demand for height is getting higher and higher, and parents want their children to grow up happily and reach the ideal height so as not to leave regrets in their children’s life. The growth and development of children has a certain regularity, and the growth rate of children at different ages varies from year to year. Most children in the 0-2 years of age for the rapid growth period; 3 years of age – puberty is a stable growth period, an average annual growth of 5-8cm; to puberty and a second growth peak. In this growth process, two hormones play an important role: growth hormone-releasing hormone and growth hormone, and a lack of either of them will prevent the child from growing at a normal rate, for example, when the hypothalamus cannot synthesize growth hormone-releasing hormone or the pituitary gland cannot secrete sufficient growth hormone. Other factors are also important to ensure normal growth, such as good nutrition, adequate sleep and exercise, and avoidance of anxiety, disease and stress. Therefore, when you observe that your child’s average growth rate is slow, you need to go to the hospital to find the cause. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to ensuring that your child has a normal height! If a child’s epiphysis is closed, there are no drugs that can make the child taller again, so treatment for short stature must be done before the epiphysis is closed. Some studies have shown that the best time to treat growth hormone is during the plateau period of children’s growth (i.e. 2 years old – adolescence), when the younger the child is, the better the treatment effect of growth hormone; at the same time, the younger the child is, the lighter the weight is, the less medication is used, and the treatment cost can be reduced. Many parents think that their children are born with short stature and never think that they will suffer from dwarfism until they grow up and are unable to find an ideal job due to their short stature. Therefore, when you find that your child’s height is significantly lower than that of children of the same sex and age, you should go to a regular hospital’s pediatric endocrine clinic for examination and treatment as soon as possible. In addition, some children with precocious puberty are not short, but their bone age has been advanced, and sex hormones are also secreted in large quantities early, causing the epiphysis to close prematurely, resulting in premature stoppage of height growth and eventually short height in general, so children with this phenomenon should also be treated early.
