How to massage the neck

The neck is usually the cervical spine, so when there is discomfort in the cervical spine, you will use your hands to feel it and press it. The discomfort in the neck is caused by chronic strain, which is an important factor in acidity and sleepiness. And this strain injury arises mainly from bad sleeping position, improper working posture, and inappropriate physical exercise. It usually manifests as limited neck movement, with pressure pain in the spinous process of the cervical vertebrae and in the superior scapula of the affected side, and some hard nodules can be palpated, accompanied by muscle weakness or muscle atrophy of the upper limbs. Physical examination shows a positive brachial plexus pull test and a positive pressure top test. Since the clinical manifestations of cervical spondylosis are relatively numerous, it is also easy to confuse with many diseases. Therefore, the first step is to clarify the diagnosis and take appropriate treatment measures. Usually, the following modalities are used in massage: 1. repeatedly doing palm kneading and one-finger meditation pushing on the back of the neck; 2. doing point pressure or holding at some acupoints of the Governor’s meridian and the three Yang meridians of the neck and shoulder, such as Fengchi point and Fengfu, and at the points of the inner shoulder, shoulder well, Tianzong and lack of basin; 3. doing flicking at the oblique muscles and scapular lift muscles. In case of nerve root type, the manipulation should include the main points of shoulder, elbow and hand. If it is vertebral artery type, it should also include the head and face acupuncture points such as Baihui and solar plexus; 4.spin trigger manipulation, and finally end with moistening, tapping and patting. In the implementation of the spin trigger technique, the patient should be instructed to rotate the neck to one side, and the two hands of the practitioner should be placed on the patient’s lower occipital and posterior occipital area respectively, while rotating the head with force. But in the process of rotating the trigger must be careful not to rotate the angle of the trigger is too large, and do not one-sided pursuit of the click sound when rotating the neck. The first technique commonly used when doing manipulation is the shu tendon method, the second is the lifting method, the third is the kneading method, the fourth is the pointing and plucking method, the fifth is the end lifting and shaking method, the sixth is the end lifting and shaking method, and the seventh is the patting and knocking method.
