There are several methods of extracorporeal lithotripsy for kidney stones

There are many different treatments for kidney stones, among which the more common ones are like extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. If the size or diameter of the stone is less than 0.7cm, conservative stone removal treatment can be used. If the diameter of the stone is large and less than 1.5cm, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy can be used. If the diameter of the kidney stone is larger than 2cm, percutaneous nephrolithotripsy can be used or ureteroscopic lithotripsy can be used, either ureteroscopic lithotripsy or percutaneous nephrolithotripsy is a minimally invasive surgical treatment. In general, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is relatively safe, effective and less invasive.
