Can a baby’s farting rule out an intestinal obstruction?

Baby’s farting cannot completely rule out intestinal obstruction. In case of pyloric or duodenal obstruction or incomplete intestinal obstruction, the baby may still have gas and bowel movement. The symptoms of intestinal obstruction vary depending on the location, severity and cause of the obstruction. If it is pyloric or duodenal obstruction, the main symptoms are repeated nausea and vomiting; if it is incomplete intestinal obstruction, the general symptoms are mild, mainly abdominal pain and bloating, and both of these two types may have a small amount of bowel movement; if it is complete intestinal obstruction, and the location of the obstruction is low, the baby may stop having bowel movement and defecation completely. Therefore, if the baby has farting and accompanied by abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, fever and other discomforts, it is recommended to consult a doctor in a timely manner, and follow the doctor’s instructions to improve the abdominal X-ray and other tests to make it clear, do not judge on your own based on the symptoms. Infants and young children with imperfect gastrointestinal function, daily should be light and easy to digest diet, reasonable exercise, active treatment of gastroenteritis and other diseases, to avoid triggering pediatric intestinal obstruction. It is recommended that babies fart for a long time without pooping in a timely manner to avoid adverse consequences.
