How long does it usually take for impetigo to heal itself?

Impetigo, also known as yellow sores, is contagious, generally not self-healing and easily spreads, and most can be cured in 1-2 weeks after active treatment. Impetigo is an acute purulent skin disease caused mainly by Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus hemolyticus, often manifesting as papules, blisters or pustules, and easily breaking down to form pustules, which can spread rapidly through contact infection and is mostly prevalent in children. If the symptoms are mild, you can apply topical antibiotic ointment, such as mupirocin ointment, chloramphenicol cream, gentamycin cream, and gentian violet, etc., which can generally be cured in about 1 week. If the symptoms are more serious, you can take internal antibiotic medication, such as roxithromycin capsules, cefuroxime tablets, azithromycin capsules, etc. Therefore, once an impetigo appears, it should be treated promptly at a hospital dermatology department. Usually pay attention to simple isolation and timely disinfection of contaminated clothing and environment to reduce the spread of disease and avoid infecting others. Pay attention to skin cleanliness and hygiene, avoid scratching, wash hands and bathe regularly, treat pruritic skin diseases in a timely manner, prevent various skin injuries and prevent impetigo.
