New understanding of carotid soft spot ulcers

Carotid artery stenosis is one of the important factors leading to ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Carotid artery stenosis greater than 70% will lead to inadequate perfusion of their brain tissue, and intervention is required when the responsible lesion vessel is clear; carotid artery stenosis of 50-70%, when the responsible lesion vessel is clear, can also be intervened. This is the confessed principle of treatment. Recently, it was found that the patient had frequent transient ischemic attacks (TIA), and carotid ultrasound, 64-row spiral CTA and DSA found that: carotid stenosis was less than 50%, and the stenotic plaque was soft plaque with ulcer formation, and after carotid stenting, TIA no longer occurred, and no major stroke event occurred.
