What’s with the bumps around the nipple rings?

Nipple ring is the common name for the areola. Bumps around the areola may have physiologic causes or there may be infectious lesions such as folliculitis and eczema.
1. Physiological causes: the areola region is rich in sebaceous glands, also known as Montgomery’s nodes. The openings are in the areola region and may appear as localized bumps. When a woman enters pregnancy, there may be milk secretion, which is a normal physiological structure and does not need to be treated. At the same time, attention should be paid to self-protection to avoid local tissue damage.
2. Folliculitis: mainly pathogenic microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus invade the local hair follicles, inducing infectious lesions to occur. Patients can appear local pimples, the formation of abscesses, there can also be whiteheads, with the abscess burst, pus outflow, local symptoms will slowly subside.
3. Eczema: the cause is complex, and chronic inflammation, allergies, autoimmune system function abnormalities and other conditions related to the local pimples can also occur.
Bumps around the areola may also be related to nipple eczema-like breast cancer and other diseases, to seek medical attention as soon as possible to clarify the cause of treatment.
